You can easily transfer all settings from one PC to another.. This allows you to setup and configure Email2DB and then deploy it on other PC's.

All settings are stored in the default folder:
(2003 / XP) C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Parker Software\Email2DB
(2008 / Vista / Windows 7) C:\ProgramData\Parker Software\Email2DB
This folder is created when Email2DB is first run.

The file ACCOUNTS.XML contains all (v1 only) trigger settings.
The file Metadata.vdb contains all (v2 only) trigger settings.
The file SETTINGS.XML contains the global options.
The file Email2DB.VDB contains the checked messages database.
The file Email2DBLog.vdb contains the logs for each processed message.
The file MetadataMailServer.vdb (v2 only) contains the settings for the mail server.

Backup these files to take a backup of your settings and checked messages.

Simply copy the files to the same location on the other PC to copy the triggers. Before copying - install and run Email2DB on the other PC first so that the folder is created.

Note: The folder may be hidden by Windows.. If so, in the Windows folder options - enable the 'Show Hidden Files And Folders' option.

When you have installed Email2DB on the new PC you can run it in evaluation mode for 30 days until you are ready to transfer the license. To transfer the license, choose 'Help - Un Register' on the OLD pc. This will release the serial number allowing it to be registered again. Choose 'Help - Register Product' on the NEW pc and run through the registration wizard using your existing serial. You can do this any number of times.

I cannot find the accounts.xml on my vista installation.   I found settings.xml but not accounts.xml.  Please advise where this file is located when installing v 2.0 on Vista

the above post has been updated to indicate that accounts.xml doesn't exist in v2.

I'm trying to move my Email2db settings/files from a Windows XP Pro machine to our new Windows 2008 SBS.  It would be greatly appreciated if you could update the (crystal clear) directions to apply to a Windows 2008 SBS system/configuration as well.  My biggest issue is that I can't seem to find the "Email2db" folder that was created on the server after I ran it the first time, so I don't know where to place the transferred configuration files on the new machine.

Thanks in advance!

Hi gaiasdelights,

The default folder location for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista is C:\ProgramData\Parker Software\Email2DB. To find the folder regardless of your Windows installation you can go to the top left circle button -> About -> Database Path ...  This will take you directly to the location of the files you require for the migration or their destination.
Best Regards,

I don't see 'Help - Unregister' on the PC where Email2DB is currently installed; where is it?

Large circle button - top left. This opens the 'File' menu. 'Unregister Product' option is on this menu.

I'm using a copy of Email2DB v2 that was originally installed by another developer.  The settings.xml file doesn't exist in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Parker Software\Email2DB folder.

Is the settings.xml file required?  If so, how do I recreate it, short of reinstalling Email2DB?

Hi,

Its only required if any of the default program options have been changed. Open the program options (file menu - big button top left) - options. Clicking Ok on this dialog will create the settings.xml file.
