WhosOn can track visitors from your Pay Per Click Campaigns.
This is done using the 'Site Entry Alerts'. When a visitor enters your site WhosOn can assign them an Alert type. You can then view current visitors in your WhosOn client grouped by Alert type. You can also view visitor lists grouped by Alert type and run historical reports (eg number of prospects by Alert type). To create/edit your Alert types, right-click your site in the WhosOn Client and select Site Properties. On the site properties form click the Site Entry Alerts tab. Click the New button to create a new alert. By default WhosOn will create an alert for Google, Google Adwords and for 'All Others'. You can edit these alerts if they dont match your existing Google campaigns and you can add any number of new alert types. The key to using alerts for your PPC campaigns is your 'tracking url'. This is the web page address that you have entered in your PPC account setup. Normally you would add some sort of indicator to the URL so you can track it in WhosOn - for example, for Google you could use http://www.test.com/index.htm?source=adwords - the '?source=adwords' can then be used to track visitors from this link. In the 'Criteria' tab of the Alert settings you specify the tracking URL in the Page list. You dont need to specify the web address - just the page (eg index.htm?source=adwords). You can leave the Search Engine list set to 'Anywhere' since the tracking url is enough to separate visitors providing you use a different tracking URL for each of your separate PPC campaigns. Once the alert is saved any new visitors that have an entry page that includes the tracking URL specified on the Alert will be assigned to that alert type. You can specify on the Actions tab of the Alert to send you a popup message or even an email when a new visitor arrives for that alert type. |
