Hello, My name is James Horton a member of the technical support team here at Parker Software. Last night our server colocation company required a set of our servers to be upgraded due to urgent maintenance. We were made aware of this but informed that there would not be any effect to the servers and the services running on the machine. Unfortunately an unforeseen issue caused the database connector that is a part of the WhosOn services to fail to restart, and this required manual interaction with the server to bring back up. This may have caused you some issues in connecting to the server this morning. The maintenance window ended just before we arrived into the office, and as soon as we were made aware of the fault we manually checked each server that may have been affected to bring the services up as soon as possible. We have now resolved the issue, and all servers are running normally. We are discussing with our colocation company in order to understand what happened, and how this can be avoided in the future. We are adding additional checks for the status of the database connector. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you and your team. If you have any further questions regarding the issue that occurred then please let us know. Edited by James Horton - 20 Jan 2011 at 2:59pm |
